Deck and Porch Revamp

Replacing and rebuilding a small side deck for the home’s back door, and re-building and replacing rotted joists and boards on the home’s wraparound porch.

This was one of those projects that had an uncertain scope at the onset of our work. We knew one deck was being fully replaced, but were unsure about the extent of the rot work that needed to be done on the wraparound porch. After pulling up some deck boards, I salvaged what we could so as not to waste useful material, and fully eliminated the rot from the joists. new boards were cut and installed, and we took the opportunity to address improperly installed flashing, inaccessible crawlspace vents, and a sagging fence along the porch. I love this client’s property, it’s truly a manifestation of all of her knowledge of woodworking and gardening, and it was an honor to contribute to her space.
